Kim HuntTucked away inside the Citgo Gas Station on Newport Highway in Sevierville, Chubby’s Deli serves up amazingly delicious foods at a surprisingly affordable price. While it might be a bit of a drive for those staying in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, we assure you that it is well worth the stop. They’re #1 on TripAdvisor for a reason!
Clyde and Carolyn Williamson have been in the food industry for over 35 years. Cooking for friends and family has always been a great pleasure for them. Chubby’s Deli has been a dream of theirs for a very long time. Their mission is to serve great homemade food at affordable prices and they are doing just that.
Chubby’s Deli celebrated its 6th anniversary on August 25, 2020. “Thank you everyone for coming out to eat with us today!! YOU ALL are the reason we’ve been able to stay open and we can’t thank you enough!!” exclaimed the owners.
You may remember Carolyn from our Smoky Mountain Thank You Project in which area businesses held a sign with a designated word. Each business was given a word as part of a larger message to thank people for supporting small businesses during the pandemic. We can’t thank them enough for participating in our project!
We decided that Chubby’s Deli would be our first stop during a recent weekend getaway. It’s a bit of a drive from downtown Sevierville, a 10-15 minute drive from the city’s center. We arrived around 2 pm on a Friday afternoon. We made our way into the gas station and headed toward the deli area. Upon first glance, the staff was busy taking orders, grilling up delicious items, and cleaning. They seemed to work very well together. They had a flow to their operation, which made for quick service.
Popular menu items include Chubby’s Famous Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, and the Fried Tenderloin Pork Burger.
For this visit, we chose the Philly Cheesesteak and the Slow Roasted Pulled Pork Sandwich.
I’m a huge fan of Philly Cheesesteaks and decided to order one after hearing others proclaim that Chubby’s had the best one ever. They weren’t wrong. The bread was slightly toasted, the cheese was melted to perfection, the meat was tender and juicy and the peppers and onions were on point. The cheesesteak is served with homemade chips, but I opted for french fries. They were seasoned to perfection.
My husband, who is a very picky eater, chose the Slow Roasted Pulled Pork Sandwich. He does not like sauces or condiments so he ordered the pulled pork plain. He said that the pork was tender and juicy and probably some of the best pulled pork he’d ever had. The fries were also cooked to perfection as they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
We both ordered Sweet Tea to drink and it was amazing as well! A fresh batch had just been made and extra ice was provided to cool it down. You can’t beat freshly made sweet tea.
Planning your next vacation to the area? Make sure to add Chubby’s Deli to your itinerary! You won’t regret it!
