Please give us a brief background on yourself and tell us about your YouTube channel.

We have a rather large family, Me and my wife, three children ( 2 girls and a boy ages 30, 28, 24) and 5 grandchildren (4 boys and 1 girl, Boys ages are 13, 11, 5 and 2, the girl is 10). We love going to different places all the time and doing different things. We LOVE the Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area and travel there about 4 to 6 times a year. We decided to start a Youtube channel kinda as a joke, but the more we did it, the more we loved it. Our channel “The Crazy Pop” is all about family, we do cooking, traveling, challenges to a lot of other things and we are currently about 5K subs.

When & why did you start making YouTube videos?

We started making videos about 3 years ago. We were all joking after watching youtube that we could do that. So I got to thinking that this could be a lot of fun and a great way to share our fun with others.

How did you get started with vlogging?

The vlogging started with the channel. When we would go to an amusement park or somewhere, we would vlog about it.

What was your first vlog about?

Our first (kinda) vlog was about Six Flags over Georgia. Riding the sky buckets during Holiday in the Park.

How has your vlogging changed since you got started?

We are A LOT more relaxed in front of the camera now and not so shy to walk around and talk into the camera. We have met some really good friends along the way and done collabs with them.

What advice would you give to a YouTuber just getting started?

ENJOY IT. That is the best advice I can give. If you don’t enjoy it, you will not stick with it. It is a lot of work, but if you enjoy it then it won’t seem like work at all.

What advice can you give to people who feel they are too shy to start making their own YouTube videos?

If you watch our early videos, I didn’t even want to talk on camera, then once I felt comfortable talking, I wouldn’t show my face. I learned quick that people like seeing faces and I also learned you don’t have to be perfect, just have fun. If someone sees you vlogging, don’t think they are laughing at you, most of them will walk up and ask you about your channel and some even want to be in the vlog. So try not to be shy and just have fun!!

What are your plans/goals for the next 6 months?

Our plans for the next 6 months really have changed with everything going on. Our plans were to do a lot of traveling to some new places, but now we are focusing more on new things at places we have been. Like different things, we have never done in the PF/Gat. area. We also have plans on some really good cooking and challenge videos. Our goal is to try to make better videos and keep on having fun.

Anything else you’d like readers to know?

Youtube is a lot of work. All the recording, editing, and traveling, can really seem like a lot sometimes. BUT, if you truly enjoy it, it will show through your videos. We have really made some great friends all over the place doing YouTube and I hope we meet a lot more.
